I will arrive at the sunrise by Dalanatha I will arrive at the sunrise by Dalanatha
I was looking for something quick to colour from my line art archives. After I had worked with this for a couple of hours I realized this wouldn't be 'quick to colour'. At the last night painting was finally ready although I spend an hour cleaning it up at this morning.

The line art this is based on was a birthday card for my friend. I can't quite remember whether it was for 2012 or 2013. Her favourite colour is red so I made a red dragon.

The dragon didn't have background originally. I placed her on the castle wall. I imagine the time is a early morning with sun just about to rise. The redness of her fur is reinforced by the warm glow coming from the castle.

As I painted I created a bit of a story to go with this. The wizard of the castle had a restless apprentice. The apprentice had become sick and tired to the fact that nothing ever happened at the castle. So she tried to summoned a red dragon, although she wasn't quite sure how to summon the dragon, so she tried various different spells. The red dragon would then hopefully take her to an adventure.
Early in the next morning she waited to the dragon to arrive. The dragon appeared and agreed to take the young woman with her. The apprentice didn't reveal her plan to the old wizard who surely wouldn't allow her to go. So they left without anyone knowing. Or so the apprentice thought. The old wizard had actually been one to summon the dragon to look after his apprentice as she clearly had no idea what she was doing.

Wow, I love everything about this picture. Background is wonderfully soft colored. And the dragon....I love the movement of his body as his front feet touch the wall of the castle. The white streak in his black hair is a great touch, and the red....such a vibrant color. I love how you make it pop out of the page.

Thank you! (I'm out of ideas how to answer...) I'm glad to hear my intensions to make the dragon really stand out worked well.
